You are right. Default value is Create files for Mapsource, which I neglected to change. I corrected that to Create subfiles. The map split nicely with no errors. What I got was MD2, MDR, SID, SRT, TRF, TYP, a whole bunch of GMP's and the last subfile MPS. I then substituted the original SID with the revised SID. Under File tab I clicked Add directories and entered the directory. GMapTool added all subfiles except for MD2 and SID. I added those two manually. GMapTool put them at the end of the list, so I moved them to the top. This is what I got.
Join all maps.
Reading file G:/CNRuSplit/00003755.MD2.
Reading file G:/CNRuSplit/00003755.MDR.
Reading file G:/CNRuSplit/CNRUSSIA.SRT.
Reading file G:/CNRuSplit/CNRUSSIA.SID.
Wrong header (DSKIMG GARMIN), file G:/CNRuSplit/CNRUSSIA.SID.
There were errors, result is faulty.
End.
Evidently GMapTool stumbles over SID subfile. Itried to join using original SID - same error.
