Yes, this map contains additional protection (Map Signatures) and it will not work after conventional unlocking on the newest devices (like, nüvi 55/56/65/66/25x9/26x9, zūmo 590, GPSMAP 64, Edge 1000 etc.).

Previously TOPO maps did not contain Map Signatures unlike the CN maps.
Map signatures are a digital signature that is written to the map files that Garmin produces. These digital signatures can then be used to verify that the map data has not been altered since the signature was written. On devices that support reading map signatures, any map that has been altered and does not pass the signature test will not be opened.

Yes, of course! It's on the cards.

    Authentically:
Device support is still ongoing – release TBD ...

On what data is your analysis based that the map has a "Map Signature", and where/how we find it in the img-file? Can that be patched ?

My Oregon 600 with the latest firmware (software version 4.10, as of July 2, 2014) works fine with CN 2015.10 and this Topo Austria v4 (both has a Map Signature ?) . So no problems at this moment on that device.
Maybe Garmin has only built into the firmware of the 64-serie something to test the "Map Signature", and look at this forum how we respond to it, before they change the firmware for the other outdoormodels.
