GPSMAP 64s + Oregon 650, but missing my GPSMAP 60csx like hell
Can these files be used with mapsource to put topographical maps on a GPSmap 60CSx device?
So far I haven't been able to use an *.img file to be recognised by Mapsource.
Sorry, I have got no experience with topographical maps or the 60CSx device so any help would be highly appreciated.
@ Dr. Strangelove
If you want only this map on 60csx, get a microSD card, create a folder named Garmin and copy in there the gmapsupp.img file from post #1 (download the unlocked version).
If you want to view this map on your PC (with no installation) download and install Basecamp, connect your 60csx to the pc and Basecamp is going to read this map from your 60csx.
If you want to install this map on your PC, use Gmaptool to "split" the .img file from post #1 "for Mapsource" but you are going to loose Search City/Address capability.
Because 60csx can read ONLY ONE file on the microSD card, if you want more maps on your 60csx, use Gmaptool to create one "map-set file" .img that contains other map files, by adding your map files to Gmaptool and choosing JOIN. the file produced by Gmaptool must be named gmapsupp.img for 60csx to read it.
60csx can't read the .db file from a SQL folder, so you don't need this file.
Thanks catymag and x-trail for your answers !
Very useful.
Hi,
Some experience with this map, Garmin oregon 600T + latest firmware, GPS and GLONAS on (device accuracy at 2 to 3 meters)
Spent some time in Austria with this map (mostly Pitztal) but went back to my trusted V3 map (luckily I had a backup on my laptop).
Believe it or not, with this V4 Pro map I got a bit lost....![]()
On a lot of trails the new map was off by a lot, even some 50 meters or more, very nice.
On somewhat straight paths the V3 showed the correct path, the V4 showed a route going all over the place.
On one point the V4 based route would have send us of a cliff, you don't want this in difficult terrain at 3000+ meter altitude!
So I went back to the V3 map and recalculated the routes.
Dont know in others parts of Austria but it will be wise NOT to remove your V2/V3 map from your device just yet.
Never seen such a step backwards in quality in an updated map
Hope this helps somebody
Unfortunately, all links are dead now.
Thanks for your efforts
great work guys
