I agree that it's a misnomer, and maybe it first arose because of the when different JCV picture sizes started to be used e.g. 212*234 v. 480*270, but has then later been 'hijacked' to differentiate between different file sizes. In the case of D3084130A.JCV and D2504160A.JCV they are both 480*270 so stating that one is High Resolution which suggests that the other is 'Low Resolution' is clearly an incorrect implication when they are simply different file sizes due to the number of images. Of course, what really matters is the inference that the reader makes from the description [however right or wrong the implication is] and most readers would know what monterra meant simply because of regular [mis]use of the term.
We probably should discourage the usage of that reference when it doesn't refer to resolution at all. Then again, are we going to be able to resist the ongoing use of VendorID [FID, PID, RID, VID] when with hind-sight it's clearly nothing of the sort and is really a Sub-RegionID? The obvious answer is no, but then it's a 'uniquely Garmin' misdescription. Some things you just have to live with i suppose.![]()

How are not bored to discuss about it from version to version???
No difference in picture (JCV image). D2504XXXA.JCV was smaller for placement into 4Gb memory of LMT device. Less JCV image is less size in Gb. Now in any case we need SD for whole coverage but Garmin is very conservative and marketing subordinate company. Maybe in body of JCV image present any difference but I catch only difference in lack of some JCV in small files for all gone years.
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
I downloaded 2 x the locked versions for mapinstall from post 1 (Monterra) and also 1x the 8 files from Pietu from post 2.
In all cases I got the same error as shown in post 14; moving the MDR folder into the main directory did solve the problem and
I could install the locked version for Mapsource.
Unlocking went fine with the Jetmouse keygenerator and allows the Europe CN 2014.40 NT to be seen without problems in Mapsource and in Basecamp.
But that's not the real problem
When I try to select the regions in Mapsource for transfer to my Garmin unit, I immediately get and an error, and Mapsource gets stuck; only an taskmanager instruction to end the program helps.
Using the latest patched version of Mapinstall (4.04) does not show the map in Mapinstall; although I can see older installed maps.
Reading through [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and specific post 29 from Pietu:
I re-installed Mapinstall and replaced the Mapinstall.exe with the patched exe file .
I did add all unlock codes of my maps in an ucx-file and placed them in the folder where the maps are located (c:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps) but did does not work either.
What Am I doing wrong, or did Garmin plug the holes in their software so we can not use the old tricks anymore?
