The db file is referenced from another db file, so I suppose just copying it is not enough and that's what I never saw properly explained anywhere (and I have no idea how to test if the updated db file is being used). When doing the update directly from Garmin, other db files are changed to reflect the new db file name and other properties.
Having said that, if using all the sid files, placed in the proper place, I do get traffictrends and instasearch working properly so I don't even bother with the db file.
From my lifetime CNE NTU update Setup.log:
I deleted many files names in the middle in the above list because it was too long to post it entirely, but I think it's clear.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
It's in files to remove list.
No replacement for that file for my 3490

This is what I can gather from the files on my unit (2545) after doing updates (unit bought in the first half of this year):
Can't tell about 2014.30 because I don't have a 2545LM and I can't do more updates directly from Garmin, also I don't know if devices from other series and different map coverage get a different treatment but I suppose it should be relatively similar.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
As you see the D*.db files do change between updates (different md5sum) and the system.db file gets updated accordingly, that is why I said before that it is not clear to me how to update D*.db and test if it is working properly, or if it is needed at all if placing all the needed files in the sd card. As far as I know the "recommended" update method is to leave the files in the unit alone and place all updates in a sd card, I suppose this situation is similar to buying a map with a different coverage and installing it to an sd card.
In the update from 2014.10 to 2014.20 it seems that not much has changed. At first glance only the filename, dates and the last part of what it seems to be the part number have changed, I don't know if anything else has changed as I didn't compare that. Still a D*.db file with some (minor) changes was downloaded and the system.db file was updated accordingly.
I was just replying about D317400.db. I think and hope definively
Because at every new CNE release, someone asks for it, but
Probably replaced by TrafficTrendsv3 D3427xxxA.sid
D317400.db is one of Garmin Mods "tormentoni" like " can we convert NT to non NT ?" of the past years.![]()

I think what D317400.db is standard dataset which not connected with map version. G2S file is related with data for new version and respond for relationship new version and trafficTrends.
SID file is another and more newer technology and have absolutely different algorithm of work and upgrade...
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
I have posted a few times about traffictrends not showing on the mymaps page.
Its down to how the map was prepared into a file you have downloaded.
I downloaded this map from an uploader on this thread and traffic trends disappeared from my mymaps page on the satnav.
I then downloaded the locked file(s) uploaded by Kenta2
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
I then used 'Fast_IMG_Unlocker_2.1' to unlock the map file.
Now traffic trends is shown on the my maps page.
