I installed TCN 2013.30 on Basecamp, Nuvi 200 and Kenwood DNX 7340BT. On both the Nuvi and Kenwood, the map cannot be read. I tried is as an unlocked map and as map with UNL-file. It simply doesn't detect the map. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Forget about using *.unl files with modern units and also with older units loaded with recent firmware. The Garmin [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] protection is not overcome by unlock codes with maps having FID of 2200 and greater [this one has FID 3119] but it is defeated by unlockers such as [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] & [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If you have an unlocked image you don't need any of those anyway.

How you have named the file and where you have placed it may be the problem. The nuvi 200 can see the file as gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img or gmapsupp.img in the Garmin folder. Or named gmapsupp.img in the Garmin folder of an SD card [also gmapsup1.img will work in there with recent US/EU fw, but not with Asian units]. The Kenwood probably needs the map named as said [gmapsupp.img in Garmin folder] on an SD or a usb stick to load it [but i know little about them, so maybe search for that info]. Plenty of good tuts and tips here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Not sure about the Kenwood but the Nuvi 200 should be fine to unlock the map by unl file.
However, which filename did u use?
    Try gmapsupp.img or gmapsupp1.img

Close BasCamp. Try to delete the CardProductCache. Start BaseCamp again.

C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Garmin\BaseCamp\CardProductCache should be where the Cache is on Vista, 7, 8, on XP it's a similar location.

Each time you use Basecamp with a different GPS the error occurs with that other model. Basecamp seems to only be able to recognize the map rights on one GPS type at a time.

Thank you very much Neil and tom1807. I simply overlooked the naming of the file. On both devices the map has to be named 'gmapsupp.img' to be read. All features of TCN 2013.30 work on the Nuvi 200. However, the search function function ('search near.....') doesn't work on the Kenwood DNX7340BT. I had that before with several other map versions but not with version TCN 2013.20. It has to do with a bug in the device's software. The software is dated 7 April 2011 and won't be updated it seems. The problem with the search function on the Kenwood is that the software requires you to select a province and then a city in the selected province before you can search for POIs. It can't find any cities in the province! Again, this does work on version TCN 2013.20.

    Anyways, thanks again.

    Great post !
It will be a long article/tutorial to describe the steps. To make it easy for everyone, I probably will release a tool instead, after I get some positive feedback on road tests.
