This is OT here so if you need any more info after this i'll move our posts to a new thread in Discussions.

Last Garmin non-NT for ID? I have no idea, but the latest Garmin released for for EU, NA & AU was 2009 so i guess you're not going to find anything after than anyway. But as I said, it can read 3rd party maps which will be more up to date than Garmin's non-NT for sure.

Apart from the technical differences in the way the Garmin NT and non-NT maps are compiled, the big difference is really in the map data itself. Old maps mean missing roads and features. Non-NT 2009 for AU is near to useless in the cities [the map data is from May 2008]. I use OSM maps in my 2610 [but i only use it for fun occasionally]. Have a look in the Asia Map Index for what's available: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

But you may be disappointed to learn that the 2610 doesn't use batteries. It is externally powered only by 12 volt DC. Perhaps you've read about batteries for the remote control, it uses 2 x AAA batteries.
