Thread: Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2014.20

I've read elsewhere the right procedure.

Download the .img file you want. Save them to a USB thumb drive in a folder named Garmin as gmapsupp.img.
You do need to use Jetmouse to generate a code based on your map and unit ID to enter when it begins the update.
So download Jetmouse and create the key
It should load automatically.

Another idea: Is may be the map too big for your unit ? Try to load just US .img

Just wondering, is there a CXNA 2014.20?

Since I have a portable MapSource.exe, can I just pull "City Navigator North America NT 2014.20.gmap" folder from the zip file instead of installing? thx

Nup, not yet. Use the full 2014.10 CX but deselect CN 2014.20 [and read the note about 3d buildings image if your unit is capable at the base of Post #1 here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

There is never an absolute need to run the installer for MS/BC/MI even for fixed versions. Just put the gmap folder in the correct directory for your Windows OS and the programs will find it. You just won't have the registry keys that's all. NOTE: Don't use MS for shortcut or complete images for NA, there may be navigation errors result. Use only MI for that.

Sorry what is MI? This is what I did to get map rolling. I installed Map 2014.20, then use MapSource and Jetmouse v1.5 + CF to create map. Then use Fast IMG Unlocker 2.1 to unlock img. So, are you saying MS will give navigation error or you only refer to if i do not install map 2014.20 method? thx for clarification.

Yes...with shortcut by MS you have (maybe) the problems with routes (change the DATA of map for MD2)

The only link for an image in Post #1 is for the 3D building map, gmap3d.img. The only detail map dl available in P#1 is for the gmap folder which of course is quite a bit larger than the image. 2,756,951,323 bytes compared to 2,025,357,312 bytes [~1.88626 GB or 1931.53125 MB].

To answer your question, yes the gmap3d.img will work with the matching corresponding version NA detail map as long as it's unlocked too and regardless of the source of either.
