Yes, highlighting Trails is a combination of some reserved polyline-definitions in the typ-file and an selected Activity on the GPS.

Actually this is how Topo Germany 2012 Pro works. Topo France v3 Pro has all trails highlighted permanently and doesn't depend on a chosen activity. Even in Mapsource the marked trails of Topo France can be seen.

    Hi,

It's very strange : on my Montana (firmware 4.20), enabling Transalpine topo at the same time does not activate red highlights (hiking profile) on Topo Austria.
I checked it on the east part of Topo Austria which is not included in Topo Transalpine.
In Basecamp, I selected a path on the east part of Astria which was displayed on red when hiking profile was activated.
But on my Montana, no red highlights of the same path occured neither when only Austria was enabled nor when both Austria and Transalpine were.

This is very interesting. Could it be a different configuration in the typ files of transalp and austria? Could there be a bug that overrides the austria typ configuration based on the typ in transalp?

If we could just see the corresponding configs in the typ files, we could maybe say more about this, or even provide an updated typ file for the austria map that enables the behavior that we want here - does anyone know how far the research and tool support is developed for the "new" typ files of the 2012 pro maps?

okay, this is definitely another strange behaviour. maybe it has to do with the order in which it is "read"?
What are your filenames for the two .img files, what are the file timestamps? in which order does it show the maps in the "select maps" list (the one where you can enable and disable them) - maybe we find a difference there.

The problem with multiple db files (only one of them gets loaded) still exists with the latest firmware releases dated 29/30 august.
I checked it myself with v4.40 on my 62s and on forum.garmin.de someone reports the same for the Montana.

We'll have to wait for Garmin to tackle this problem.

Default Map fails in color and display

I downloaded files from zippyshare several times. Each time I unlocked map twice. Once with FIunlocker and once with GIunlocker. Splitted with GMaptool. In both cases Mapsource (6.13.3 patched)and Basecamp (4.01 patched) do not show color for woods, however horizontal lines and no red but a brownish color for dotted hiking trails. Zooming below 700m provides map details for complete map. Zooming out makes some details not to show on map. Squares of blank area with names once the mouse goes over it. Other maps like latest Topo Germany, Spain, France and Trans alpin all work fine.
    Has anyone any suggestion?

I am not sure if I understand you correctly, do you see all colors below 700m?

If you don't see any colors (only horizontal lines for woods) the typ-file is not registered in the registry.
If you do see colors below 700m it's not a typ-problem but something else.

    - Did you set map-detail to 'High' in Mapsource?
    - Did you try to hit Ctr + G on the keyboard once or twice?

Your Mapsource version is very old, for modern NT maps with DEM it's better to use v6.16.3

    Hi,

I splitted as well Topo Austria with gmaptool, but my results are different : map is well displayed either in Mapsource 6.16.3 or in Basecamp 4.0.1.
The only difference is that in Mapsource I can't see red highlights for trails (like in Montana) whereas I can see them in Basecamp.

    Mapperoni, Dergio2
    Thanks both for your input.
    I made one typing error.
    I use Mapsource 6.16.3
Registry entries where as with other maps.
Colors green and red dotted also didnot appear below 700m
I meanwhile resolved the main problems.
I thought I used latest unlock with GI unlock alternative v6.0.5
However unlock Map Image from GUA v7.1.6.0 resolved the biggest part of the issue.
Map now looks good, almost simular to other maps.
    No zooming errors anymore.
I have same look now like Sergio2.
    No red trails in Mapsource.
This is different from other maps like Trans Alpin, France Topo v3
They show red Grande randonnees in both Mapsource and Basecamp
Germany doesnot show any specific coloured trails.
    All black.
I still do not understand difference between Mapsource and Basecamp display.
    Thanks

Mapsource is very old and doesn't support Active Routing and changing colors upon activity choice.
Garmin abandoned Mapsource and replaced it with Basecamp.
