Maybe nothing more was cut. Sometimes later maps in the same series are more compressed by the mapmakers and so there only appears to be less data.
....And another question: What is the actuality of the map's topo information? I ask this, because the Germany 2012 Pro topo has an actuality even before 2010, that is very bad so far.
As Doc_Koordinate said 'topography doesn't change so quickly'. Barring earthquakes, tidal waves and meteor strikes, of course, lol. Where i am, bush roads, tracks and even the trails haven't changed much in 20 years, but boy-oh-boy the urban roads have! I'd trust a 10 year old topo in the sticks with caution but never a 10yo CN in the big smoke, around here anyway.

    good question,
from the first impression I can see only minor changes:
    - different colouring (adjusted to other 2012 Topo's)
    - more detailed areas of vegetation
    - most of POI's in populated areas are missing
    - street labels are included but not shown except if you point at it
    - same 20m contour lines than in v2
-> so far no explanation for that loss of data volume
Screenshots from both versions under BC:

btw: topography doesn't change so quickly
my question: anyone here to provide the DVD / gmap files? tia

The missing POIs may explain some of the volume loss.
I would be interested in the DVD (MapSource) version as well.

    @ Doc_Koordinate, @ Neil
Thank you for the info provided. Now something became more clear to me.

And btw, the annual changes in topography are very big, especially in urban and other areas with human landuse. So far this can be very important, if you are going to use the autorouting feature of the Topo map for biking or motocycling.

Topo maps are generally not suitable for autorouting with vehicles (as stated in the manual). If you try, you may be guided the wrong way around roundabouts or to the wrong side of highway lanes!
Navigation with vehicles is the job of City Navigator products.

    Hi,
i do agree with inigo 45, i don't want to spend the whole day downloading a 7Mo file from netload. Great trouble.
Could you please fix the problem with another hoster?
    Thanks.
