    OK, best you do the reading I suggested anyway. However, yes you can put the image on your 1690 named as gmapprom.img in your .system (hidden) folder. Be aware that if you have a map of the same name then it will be overwriten by it. There are other names you can use on the unit both in .system folder, and in a separate root folder named Map you can use anyname.img, eg CNNT_MENA_2013-20.img for instance and have multiple maps. You can also have the Map folder in the sd for your 1690. Read all the Tutorials to learn how to see hidden folders in Windows and get info on map naming conventions in both the unit and microSD card. The reason i suggested using the card is if any 'unofficial' unlocked map causes problems to the unit, you can just remove it and the unit will recover and function normally. Read, re-read and re-re-read everything and you will understand.
