no, sorry, neither my Oergon 450t nor my Garmim 62St would accept SDs larger than 8GB - could you please tell me what you did to make them recognize 16/32 GB ? thxs

From Garmin FAQ:
What is the largest size microSD card I can use with my GPSMAP 62 or 78 series device?
Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
The GPSMAP 62* and 78 series devices have an expandable memory slot into which a microSD** card can be inserted. This card provides the ability to install detailed mapping to enhance the device's internal basemap.
A standard speed card, no larger than 32 GB, can be used in order to get the best performance from the device. Class 4 to Class 10 is considered standard speed.
While considering memory limitations, another limitation is the number of individual mapping segments. Roughly 3,000 mapping segments can be transferred to the GPSMAP 62 or 78 series.
This series will pick and choose which map segments to show when the map segment limit is surpassed. It is suggested to transfer additional mapping segments to another microSD card.
*The GPSMAP 62 does not have a microSD card slot.
I think actually the map segment limit is 4000, and maps supported number with the latest firmware v4.30 should be 22

Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
Question about the MapSource Version (GMAP Folder) and creating an Image with MapInstall:
After installing the Topo Germany 2012 Pro Mapsource Version, the whole map (including the "Named Trail Database") is working fine in BaseCamp. The DB-File with the Named Trail Database is properly installed in the "Additions" folder below the Topo Germany 2012 Pro GMAP folder. So far, so good.
But when I use the (patched) MapInstall 4.0.1, which is the newest version and should be aware of the new features in the Topo Maps, such as the "Named Trail Database", to create an Image (here on the local PC under "C:\Garmin"), there is no SQL subdirectory that has the DB-File (Named Trail Database) in it. First, I tried only a few Map Tiles to make the transfer test faster, but then I realized, that maybe only those trails are transferred to the IMG directory (SQL subdir), that start and end within the selected map tiles. So I tried to transfer the whole map, but the result is the same (only gmapsupp.img is created, no subdir SQL with the DB-File in it).
Does Garmin really expect people to manually copy the DB-File from the "Additions" subdir of the installed GMAP folder to the SD Card (SQL subdir)? Or did I do something wrong? Im wondering if this DB-File is only transferred if the destination is one of the few GPS Units that supports the Named Trail Database for Active Routing within the devices firmware. Does MapInstall really make a choice like that? Or is this feature just not implemented yet?
I haven't tried MapSource to transfer and see if the linked DB-File is transferred too, but I don't think so, since MapSource is years old without update and most definitely not aware of the new topo map features, such as Named Trail Database.
Can anyone confirm this? Anyone tried to transfer directly to a GPS Unit that can handle the new DB-Files?
Thanks!

I copied the whole Image Format map to my device. The card is shown in the info box, but when I zoom to an address, it seems, that worldmap is chosen instead of topo map. Could it be, that this map can not be uses in full size on a garmin mobile xt device like an pda? Cause the size of the map is shown as -1873 mb?
The whole map of Topo Germany 2012 Pro is about 2.3 GB - so it is to big for Mobile XT.
hi - i solved my SD card issue on 62St and Oregaon 450t - following your adviced i got myseld a 16GB class4 SD card - works fine ! the issue seems to be with my 'old' class2 16GB SD cards, they do not work properly in the devices - anyhow, never mind, problem solved, thxs
can i use this map with a Quest2?
I think you can, but there are some points to consider.
You must have the Topo map on your PC and viewable in Mapsource or Basecamp. And than you can send a selection of the map to the internal memory with Mapsource or Mapinstall. It overwrites the existing map ( maybe City Navigator ?) So maybe you have to make a backup of the existing map (gmapsupp.img) or you have the corresponding map on your pc so you can put the map back later. I don't think the whole topo fits on the internal memory, so you must make a choice for a part of the map. Only the map is working, not special futures as Activerouting. Give it a trie, but always make a backup from your gps first.
