Could anyone fit the whole NA map 1.5gb and the full JCV file 700mb in the garmin unit? I could not and it seems an sd is necessary.

On nüvi 1xxx units it is possible to fit the whole of North America on the device if you delete unused files (especially voices). You'll have about 90MB remaining afterward. The full-size JCV file for full-screen units needs to be on the MicroSD. It won't fit internally with the map. Come 2012.40 or 2013.10 at latest the map will no longer completely fit on a 2GB device, no matter what files are removed. Use MapInstall (Included with BaseCamp) to manually transfer portions of the map to MicroSD.
For me, when this happens my upgrade path will be to use MapInstall to place just my home state on the internal memory of the device. This is to prevent a potential "No detail maps. The nüvi cannot navigate without them" error that may appear with no detail map present in internal memory. I will then install all of North America to the MicroSD card. The JCV file I will move from external memory to internal memory. If that doesn't work, then I guess I move Canada and Mexico to the MicroSD and leave the US on internal memory.![]()

I have a 3760 so 4gb of internal memory. Is it better to have the full Jcv installed or I can get away with the portrait smaller version? As it stands now I can have both the full map and smaller jcv on internal memory but I could not fit the full one and have only two voices installed.
The full JCV file I have is the 750+MB file. This file is specifically for units that support full-screen Junction Views. You can put it on your 3760 but you'll lose both split-screen views and portrait mode so long as the file is installed.
Stick with the file you have.
Is there a possibility that someone posts the full 3490 ASR and SID directories for NA 2012.30, just like it was done for the europe unicode 2012.30 map? Without those files voice command no longer works for addresses and cities. Thanks!
Hello to everybody. I am a new Garmin 3760 user and I am trying to install NA 2012.30 maps on SD card. I'd like to know which is the best 'folder' structure to create and where to put different files. I've currently downloaded unlocked img files. Here are my doubts:
1)Should img files (gmap3d.img, gmapprom.img, gmaptz.img) copied into <SD root>/Map directory?
2)Which are the proper JCV files for 3760 unit?
3)Where should JVCs files be copied to?
4)Where should *.db and *.sid files be copied to?
5)ASR shouldn't be required since are supported by 34xx devices only. Correct?
Many thanks in advance for your kind help!
Rodrigo
Would this map fit on a etrex legend hcx? I looked on Garman's site and it looks like it would. But I know you guys know for sure.
