is this file for iphone?why extension is .img?

hello everyone and thanks for the good help you guys are providing in this forum, i have a GARMIN nuvi 255 with north america maps installed. i have downloaded the navleb file if someone plz tell me what i do next and thanks in advance.

Just copy gmapsupp.img file in your sd card

i did and nothing happened, or maybe because I'm still in Canada and i need to be in Lebanon for it to work?

..create a folder named Garmin on your sd-card and copy the gmapsupp.img into this folder..

Thanks for the reply fluorescent, i did and i think it worked, but what about copying the gmapsupp.img into the garmin folder already exist on my device, will that work?
