Awesome! Thanks. I have the Garmin 1260T--which one should I download the 2xx or 7xx?

When I check my keyboard folder in my Garmin, they're all ".KBB" files, not .GTT, and they're much smaller in size.

When I check the Text Folder, the files are all ".GLX" files and there are 3 files for every language.

For example for British English there are these 3 files:

en_GB.glx (690 kb)
en_GB_PRX.glx (4kb)
en_GB_TRF.glx (1257 kb)

I opened all 3 files with notepad and none of them resemble either file that you had provided in the links.

I wouldn't use any of the nüvi 2xx or 7xx GTT files in a nüvi 1260T.

Look at one of your existing language files. Copy to PC and edit the file with Icelandic values.
Then save the edited file to new name and copy back to your nüvi 1260T.

Thanks Ballebar, but I don't think I can get it to work. The formatting looks very different--I cannot find anything to resemble the same text as what's between the <hdr>
section.

Actually I found no ".GTT" files at all on my Nuvi.

i know that this was posted some time ago. but i have a nuvi 2797. I downloaded the .kbd file, used express to load the .kbd file into the This PC\nüvi 2797\Internal Storage\keyboards. but the nuvi does not list the islandic keyboard when i attempt to change the keyboard in express.

Iceland is now part of the Europe maps, depending on your device there are 2 types of Maps NT for older devices & NTU for newer devices including Unicode characters for languages like Icelandic.
Use google to find "City Navigator Europe NTU 2026.20"

It loooks a bit more complicated to edit language files for a nüvi 1260. Either wait for official files from Garmin (it they will ever come) or try some structured XML editor to assist the editing in a better way than a text editor.

Thanks Ballebar. that's what I figured. This is the first Garmin I have owned (previoulsy was a TomTom owner), so I'm still figuring out the setup.

I think the 1260T being very new, might have different file set ups (I had to figure out where to put the maps and the POI's etc.)

A bit of trial and error. Anyway, I guess I can get by with some characters from the Danish or Dutch keyboards preinstalled, but some Icelandic characters like þ aren't found in any other keyboard (at least none that are preinstalled on my garmin)
