I'm a newbie to GPS maps and have not used Map Source before. Is it a software that I need to install first before being able to load maps? Have been reading the threads and rather confused about which file I need to download. What is the difference between a mapsource file and image file? Thanks a lot for your patience.

Yes, the JCV images have different resolution compared to 2011.32 version, probably we should also wait for another JCV file, which is made for wide screen devices. Interestingly, the new JCV file is smaller than the old one: 447 vs. 548 MB.
However, the good news is: this JCV covers Croatia!!!

I have downloaded the 2.2 GB unlocked image and will put on SD card. Will this be read correctly by the Oregon 550?

(Cannot test as waiting it for arrive in a week's time)

    Thanks.

Yes meanwhile you put it in the garmin folder and name it gmaprom.img or gmapsupp.img

Off topic, but can I add a second Topo map to the /Garmin directory on the Oregon 550 - if so what can I name it?
