    Which nuvi model ?
    Few observations of my own...

I have downloaded the locked IMG version from post #6 and renamed the file gmapsupp.img.
Then used the microSD ID-number and FID 2365 to generate an unlock key for the gmapsupp.unl file with JetMouse v1.5 (fixed version).
Finally created a folder named Garmin on the 4 GB microSD and copied both files into this folder.

I tried the resulting microSD in various nüvi's (used an SD adapter where necessary).
Lo and behold... CN Europe NT 2011.40 is recognized by some of my 5 nüvi's, but not all:

Map loads fine on nüvi models 200, 250W and 255W.
Map does not load on nüvi models 205 and 350.
For information: CN Europe NT 2011.32 loaded fine on all mentioned models!

When checking the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for compatible models (click link and select View microSD™/SD™ card-compatible products), all of the above are listed, except the nüvi 350. So that would explain one model. But how about the nüvi 205 and possibly other models as well which I don't happen to have access to?

I then unlocked the locked IMG file which I had downloaded earlier, using Alternative Unlocker v5.71. Replaced the files in the Garmin folder on the microSD by the unlocked gmapsupp.img file. Same result: map was recognized by the nüvi 200, 250W and 255W but still not on the 205 and 350. See table below:

    tablecw

Another observation: when switching on the nüvi with the microSD inserted, the green progress bar shows up, indicating loading of the (new) map. Only on the three models that recognize the map, the progress bar runs all the way to the end. On the other two models, the progress bar disappears before reaching half way. An error message like "Can't Unlock Maps" is not shown! This error message does show though when using the locked IMG file without UNL file.

Could anyone please shine some light on this and possibly suggest a solution to get the map working on at least the nüvi 205? Could it be the size of the file is simply too big?

I think the 350 has a file size limit of 2Gb. Perhaps 205 too.

That was my initial thought too. However, if that's the case, how come the 205 is listed on the Garmin website as being compatible with the CN Europe NT 2011.40?

If you have purchased an original download, you select your region e.g. western Europe, which is much less than the 2Gb limit. Using mapsource you can select which tiles you upload up to your limit.

Since my post #29 refers to the download from post #6, I guess we'll have to wait until the MapSource version becomes available.
Only then we'll know if file size plays a role here.
