I believe I have the maps named correctly.

The factory maps on the 350 internal flash is still gmapprom.img along with the gmapprom.unl file

On the SD card I have the following in the Garmin folder:
    gmapsupp.img
    gmapsupp.unl

Everything is correct, may I know which maps? coz if it's the same map, covering the same area, your gps couldnt see them both contemporarly

I would, even though it's frowned upon, like to add a few keystrokes here and take the time to say Thank You all for what I have learned from the many Garmin posters. This is my first GPS, and while I'm not a geek at it I do like to understand more than the average Jack or Jill who just switches it on and goes.

The factory onboard maps are CNNT 2008 but I'm not sure which version. The maps (2011.30) on the SD card were obtained from post #37.

With previous updates I always downloaded the unlocked IMG and had no problems with seeing both onboard flash maps and SD maps. This is the first time that I've used a locked image with JM generated unl file.

I've read some more on the net about combining all keys in one UNL file. Is it possible that the UNL file on the SD card is causing problems with the UNL that's onboard?

    Thanks again

If not too much trouble, I would like to have them for 2011.30 maps even if they are smaller. I think that in new maps the ASR files are smaller because there is one per voice instead of all packed into a single file. TIA.

    Hi catymag,

I do not always know what I am saying either... LOL!

When I cheated my GarminDevice.xml to emulate a 3790, it downloaded a few .srx files (like american_english.srx) inside the ASR folder. It does not seem that those files exists in an 855 device. So, I think I am not looking for 2011.20 files, but rather 2011.30 files for a 3790 device. I wonder if they are different. I would think not, but what are those .srx files?

I copied the 2011.30 ASR files posted in the first post to my 3750 (yes, 3750). In the inventory, I can see the files are detected, except the ASR Map Count which is still set to 0. Anyone around with a 3790 could tell me what is an ASR map and what is the count you see in the inventory? Maybe it just does not see the ASR Map because that feature is not enabled on my 3750. Thanks.

    turboccc,

Are you sure the files downloaded were .srx and not .SRD files?

A huge Thank You catymag and TS. However, uncompressed the ASR.rar without errors and copied the d/l'ed ASR (4) files into the 885T internal \garmin\asr dir. Replaced internal gmapprom.img (2011.20 NA CN NT) in \garmin dir with 2011.30 Locked version with a functional .UNL file. No problems reading map, getting to Traffic from MSN Direct, and all other functions using voice commands found with one exception: the entire "Find Address" function fails and requires Keyboard Input to do any Find, and posts a No speech recognition available for current language or the current location (Maryland) to the screen. My NA CN NT 2011.20 and its associated files (JCV, ASR) was completely functional. Still have not had a chance to see if renamed 3790 JCV file (D2339030A.jcv to D1279080A.jcv) will work or not. Perhaps tomorrow.

In the 885T Version Infomation screen, ASR Language Checksum = 5D698DD8, however ASR MAP Checksum = 00000000. Did not notice what this information was in my functional 2011.20 (with operational ASR files) setup. My bad. Interesting however is the CN Europe 2011.30 unlocked by PiEtU Suppmap v0.00 map currently located on the 16 GB microSD card Fails in Inventory even though it is functional when used to view Europe. Inventory also shows a PROM 2 as empty but erased? Dir DB erased. Any ideas?

    4. Suppmap = gmapsupp.img (SD Card drive only)
    5. Dir DB = gmapoem.img (OEM POI data map)
    6. Basemap = gmapbmap.img
    7. TZMap = gmaptz.img

Double surprise for me, these are the file names:

    Code:

I don't know why the gmapprom1 didn't work for me during the first testing, but it does now.

The big surprise is the gmapsup1, which works only in the SD card.

Hint for others doing this kind of research: you can see at a glance in the folder which files have been recognised and which haven't. The unit creates .sum files for each recognised file.

    Peter.
