as said you cant see an img in mapsource like it is,imgs are Garmin images ready to copy in gps devices .
To see them in mapsource ,and it's written here

you must create a mapsource installation with GMapTool (you wont have search if you transfer an img to gps)
or you can see it in Basecamp

Sure coz you have a new device or a new firmware, It's the new Garmin policy, you'll need to unlock it ,coz you dont have the related gma file in your gps .with eg.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I have tried differant keys nothing is working. I am getting very frustrated.

just put your img in a folder with FU and run it, then copy it in your map folder

I must be real stupid as I am unable to get any of these to work. I have dowloaded everything and done everything and nothing is working for me. the mapsource will not open maps the unlocker will not unlock, you say to run it but how? I have double clicked it, it shows the file but it dose not do anything else. I downloaded the Gmaptool but could not do anthing with it. Sorry for making it hard.

I have downloaded all of V3, but it is too big for a 2G card. (The dog trackers will only take a 2G card). Is it possible to delete the NZ info - if so how do I do it...?

Hi,

I have formated my 8GB SD card in fat32, created a "Garmin" folder in the root. I placed the "GMAPSUPP.IMG" file in the Garmin folder (no alterations to the file, used as downloaded from the .rar archive on the first page). I used Garmin Unlock Generator as attached (note: I chose "Garmin Mobile XT" as the software prodct). I saved the file as "gmapsupp.unl" in the SAME Garmin folder using notepad to create it.

When I boot the device I receive the following error:

"Cannot Authenticate Maps"

My Details:

Device: Garmin Edge 800

(Note: I am not using Garmin Mobile XT, there is no software choice in the Unlock Generator for the Edge 800, is this a issue for me?)

I have not performed any MapSource or BaseMap procedure in order to get this work, after reading previous tutorials by Catymag, I was under the impression I did not need to.

Please assist, what am I doing wrong here?

Using Fast IMG Unlocker resolved my issue, Thanks.

I did read that thread, I did not find an issue copying the map to the SD, except it was extremely slow using the Garmin device, i should have used a card reader.

Now that I have the Garmin Topo V3 map working, I am very disappointed in the detail of the map it is NOTHING like the screen shots Garmin show on their site, is it possible I am missing files which add the detail? or should I be looking at using OZTopo instead?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I could supply one but it is about 2.6GB.

All img files have different IDs.

The zippyshare links only took about 20 minutes.

FWIW

Tested working on my Dakota 20 and MapSource.
I have not discovered any differences from the previous version locally yet.
Same 15 year old road errors.

I guess that is to be expected on this 2 years old mapset.
