It really helps to put the correct version of the ASR files on the garmin... for some reason I put the 2011.10 ASR files on and finally found my HUGE mistake. Been banging my head for days... Much thanks! One other question, though. It is NOT a good idea to use web updater anymore now that things are no longer what they were when purchased?

The other way to use webupdater.
1). Copy Garmindevice.xml --> Paste into SD card\garmin\ --> insert card into computer
2).open webupdater
3).Webupdater will detect your sd card as NUVI
4).You will get all of files you want within sd card !
5).This method is helpful for updating firmware ., You will get GUPDATE.GCD in sd card and just copy and paste in--> NUVI:\garmin\gupdate.gcd
NUVI will update unit firmware automatically when you disconnect USB.

This is the same technique that I used in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. The GUPDATE.GCD will only appear in WebUpdater if the <SoftwareVersion> has a lower value in GarminDevice.xml compared to the latest at Garmin update service.
