You can check map release date with gmaptool. Load to gmaptool *.img or any *.gmp file from your map, press details and read date of compilation. It looks like this (this is not CNNA):

And I have confirmed. My original mapset is 2010-03-16. However, you won't know this unless you download and install the .img files ie. go to the dreaded rapidshare or megashare sites where you're only allowd to download only one file a day.
