Hi, As newbie here, need some help. My garmin Nuvi 670 suddenly shut down and when i Powered on, There was nothing on it. No files, nothing. As far as i know and what i have read, i succesfully loaded the 2011 map update, recovered some files, but there is one missing. Basemap I think. Even I have the map loaded into the unit,I can only see rectangles, nothing else. Someone told me I needed that map. What software or files should I have on it and where I can find them???
Another question: The gmap3d, gmaptz, *.jcv work on this unit? I loaded on the unit also, but I cant see nothing.

All I know is nuvi can display the detailed map without basemap.

Could be the "gmap3d, gmaptz, *.jcv" files are messing up the GPS and making files invisible. Also if some files are out of order, like not in the expected folders, that would make the GPS act screwy. Originally Posted by falkonerth

Thanks for the post susieQ. One question... I know how to unlock a map using Garmin Unlocker with device ID and map ID so the generated GMAPSUPP.IMG can be used on a device but how did you unlock the GMASUPP.IMG completely so it can be used by any Garmin GPS device? Thanks.

I was able to download part 6 of the complete Mapsource installation. All is well! Thanks catymag for verifying validity of file.
Just to get back to everyone that has helped me out, I was able to generate the base map, GMAPPROM.IMG for my Garmin StreetPilot c330 patched so it can be used on any device. Due to the internal memory size limitation on the c330, 930MB, I had to generate the map for eastern US only. I created the supplemental map, GMAPSUPP.IMG with the full map (US & Canada) on the external 2Gig San Disk. Thanks susieQ and catymag! First of all, Congratulations to this forum and everybody who helps.
1) I seach in the forum for "USA Speedcameras" or "Garmin USA POI" before asking and i dont find what i search. I'm traveling to Orlando-Fl-USA and i want the most recent POI with speed cameras and red light cameras, and if someone knows a good POI with restaurants, stores, atractions, etc who worth to put in the GPS, i aprecciate. I know the CNNA has good POI inside.
2) I dont undestand what i'm going to do with the file gmapprom1.img 899.984 kb. the Gps has 2Gb (internal memory) , the gmapsupp.img has 1.286.560 kb.
I have a nuvi 760 + Nokia E71 with Gamin Mobile Xt 5.00.60
