Probably all current nuvis support shading, which is kind of unnecessary feature for road navigation.

Your GPS will show DEM only when you zoom out. You should be able to see DEM on basemap.

Thanks Kanopus .. I guess the 3D terrain is different to the dem do you know off hand if the 3790 T is the only one to do that ? I have seen what you said re zoomed right out I actually thought it was the world base map.

    Cheers

I think that kind of display is possible on nuvi 3790, Chinese version of 3750, Oregon and Colorado. Some marine GPS should have similar capabilities with marine charts.

Hi I have a Garmin 650. I've searched the forums but have not found a thread for my question. I have the 2009 North American maps installed on the system memory. I've copied and I am running the gmapsupp.img for north america 2011-3 to my sd card on the device. I have them both the 2009 and 2011 maps checked under map info in the Garmin. Will this present a problem? Should I only have the 2011 map checked? Thanks

I have a Garmin directory and put in gmapsupp.img unlocked nothing , moved the gmapsupp.img to the root directory and nothing.... I am really bewildered here
. any clues would be really appreciated..

Check that the 5000's FW is up to date. And that you've got a "newer'(see link below) SD card. A friend of mine has a 5000 and he uses a "newer' 16GB SD card no problem.

SDA Host v1(v1.01, v1.10. FAT12 and FAT16) could read to a 2GB card, with SDA Host v2(FAT32) reading to 32GB. But I can only confirm my friends 5000 and my two 855's w/16GB cards.

Too, the format on the card, FAT16 vs FAT32, can also exhibit what you're experiencing between units. Yea, it gets tricky concerning compatibility between devices, the SDA Host installed, and the cards format.

Also, read the below for a possible incompatibility with older and or non-compliant SD card issues:

    Hi

Yes I have used the web updater for the latest firmware and also only the SDHC sandisk cards 4 and 8 gig ..
Its just weird it wont do the Version 3 Aus topo with roads but will do the version 2 without roads .. wont even see the version 3 in the map info .. I can only put it down to the version 3 has the ability to route and the 5000 wont allow its routing to be done off another map .. Only guessing here ..
Also I use this in my 205w and the file names only have the one .img thanks anyway

    Thanks anyway
