Hi,
one or two times each trip my DS51 reboots.
Looking in "Shutdown Causes" a RTL-Trap and Prefetch Abort and the Task ID BT-Read will be reported. I assume BT stands for Bluetooth.
I had BT switched on and will observe with next trips with BT switched off.
Spoiler: images
Has anyone an idea, what the real cause of the reboot could be and how to prevent it?
Regards, Onurbi

I'll read the links.
The second one hits probably not my theme, because the shutdown works well.
Edit:
The first link was very interesting to read, but does not touch my need. Especially I'll look here for "cure(3)" to find out, what it is.
My goal is to learn what I can conclude when a RTL trap with the task ID BT-Read is triggered.

RUNTIME LIBERTY traps are caused by built-in firmware bugs in the vast number of occurrences. There's been an essential call made which fails, resulting in the device rebooting. Because such RTL traps are due to faults inherent in the issued version of the firmware, only an suitably updated fw issue will stop it happening. Therefore using Cure fw won't solve anything. Report it to Garmin, only they can fix it with a general fw update or a revised BlueTooth software version.

I think too. But for that model the firmware update have been finished already.only an suitably updated fw issue will stop it
Because this reboot events increase more and more I would like to find out, if a hardware fault leads to this traps or data failures. The last ones could perhaps resolved.
Interesting link!RTL Trap error.
kunix tells that RTL means Run Time Library Trap ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]).
Yes kunix is correct that it's Runtime Library trap, "Liberty" is my typo.
This is a 'soft' not 'hard' problem. The fault is either in the device's "main system software" (i.e. firmware) or it's BT software. Only Garmin can fix it. Unfortunately kunix doesn't visit here lately, having not logged on for over 2 years now so i don't think you'll get an answer but i've approved your post [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] anyway.

I already contacted the german hotline. The only response I received was: The Devloper menu is not intended for normal users; it should have been removed long ago!Only Garmin can fix it
He was probably already annoyed by inquiries of this kind.
Good to know. That is a pitty!having not logged on for over 2 years now
Thank, you!but i've approved your post
That's exactly what i'd expect one of the service desk drones there would say. You could ask for it to be escalated because it's of their making and their responsibility to fix.
Downgrading the firmware might work if the problem is not due to the BT software. Did you eventually try using it as you said in initial post without BT enabled?

You are right. It's not easy to get a cooperative employee on the phone. I tried calling twice and got the same unhelpful guy both times. You could ask for it to be escalated because it's of their making and their responsibility to fix.
But it's also difficult because the 51 model is already quite old.
The test is still pending. I don't want to just drive around for no reason. So far, the error has only occurred after about an hour. The next trip of this length is not yet planned.Did you eventually try using it as you said in initial post without BT enabled?
