    Hi again Geoff,

Your thoughts are a natural response to the amount of information available on the forum. We all do recognise that stage of the learning process. I compare it to trying to drink from a wide open fire hydrant: you do get some water in, but most of it goes past you. All I can say is not to give up! As Neil says, it's not as difficult as it seems. And what's at least as important: you're in good hands here! Hang in there Mate and follow instructions step by step. Don't run before you can walk and I'm confident this thread can be marked "Solved" soon!

Thanks for the support Guys - I appreciate it.
I have now followed the instructions (from somewhere?) and have GUPDATE_Patched GCD and GUPDATE_Patched.rgn and updater.exe in my system folder.
I tried to enter pre-boot mode about 20 times, finally I pressed over the battery symbol and the model number appeared briefly in updater. When I pressed 'okay' a message "could not find file path F: system/ GUPDATE Patched .rgn and a message from windows telling me there is something wrong with my drive. (I reckon there's still something wrong with the operator! But we'll get passed that)
