I'll try that. Thanks.

Nice , yes remove (backup first on pc) also old gmapprom.gma files and gmapprom.unl files from nuvi or your map will result locked.
Replace old files with the new ones, look at garmindevice.xml for the right paths.
See this thread for reference:

After that run Webupdater, probably if it's old, it needs to update some files like voices, traffic.txt etc

Rather than deleting the Lower 48 map img, I renamed it on the 885.
But the unit said there were no maps installed even though I had the Full North America 2016.10 maps on the SD card.
I renamed the gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img and the unit recognized the maps.
Just for kicks, I went back and restored the name of the img file on the unit to gmapprom.img, and the units still functions.
I don't know which map img file it's reading.
But this old 885t is running S-L-O-W. Slow to respond to touch and very slow to draw maps etc.
Deselect the map you are not using, better to remove the old files; if you have both in nuvi, it's obvious it cant work properly.
You must have only one CNA gmapprom.img along it own new gmapprom.unl and gmapprom.gma.
Old .gma and .unl, gmapprom related, will prevent your new map to be recognized.
Look at maps list in nuvi, under "Maps" if it sees the new map.

Would it be simpler to just use gimunlock to unlock the new img file instead of having the gma and unl files ?
Lol sure it's simpler, but you have legal maps ...![]()

Just in closing, and for completeness: Many devices such as old StreetPilots etc are not supported by Garmin Express AT ALL. Although all nuvi devices can use GE, some including your 885T are only partly supported. Several nuvi models and series, 295/3xx/5xx/6xx/8xx/5000, just can't use the 'load to SD feature' during update with GE, but they can load to SD using MapInstall. So it's fine to use the nuvi clone/stunt double method with GE for LM maps on your 885T mate, or you can just load the PC install version to your PC and use use MI to load the entire entitled LM area to an SD.
