To state the obvious, i could have been clearer. I was referring only to obtaining the CID [CID's serial number] in decimal. Clearly there are known ways via software on a PC to read the CID serial in hexadecimal. To remove any doubt as to whether that then needs to be reversed before/after converting hex to dec, i.e. 'The most reliable way I know of is to use a device capable of reading the CID of the media card .......' which will give the CID's serial unambiguously in clear decimal. Sorry for any [perceived] 'red herring'/misunderstanding.
