Thread: update west europe 2014.10 but the garmin software are really rubbish

hope this is the right section , i was doubtful about software & tools , after i decided for garmin discussions

well i updated west europe 2014.10 on 2 units

well the gamin software are really rubbish

first i used GarminMapUpdater_v3.1.20.exe, and webdownload
with webdownloader i updated the firmware to v8
and garminmapupdater i updated the map

with the west europe 2013.40 stored map and jvc files in my 8gb sd and the rest in my unit

well garminmapupdater did download everything and stored in my unit map and jvc too , and kept in my sd the 2013.40 and jvc files in my sd

with the second unit i gave a try to garmin express , result the same behavior new map and jvc in the unit , and kept on my sd the prev. map and jvc

but is the new update (i mean 2014.10) more small (i'm talking about size) then 2013.40?

It is for gmapprom.img from MapUpdater info.

maybe the files *.sid are less or more small
in short i have 150mb free in 4gb in the unit no new files in the sd
the garmin updaters with the previous map did not find enough space/room in the unit and prompt to store them in sd

To force Map update on Sd you need to fill up the Nuvi with some files.

Umh....simply copy/paste the file GarminDevice.xml in folder Garmin in SD (need card reader)....launch MapUpdater and ...enjoy

That for first upgrade. For second or other upgrades, you need the code map (8 characteres) : this code in your dashboard in mygarmin .

After you can move files at will

D3414090A.sid size 164063 , in short it's 164mb this explains why it doesn't used the sd
