are .IMGs unlocked for real ?
If yes ,try SD/Garmin/anyname.img
I got my refurbished Montana 600 unit today. I liked it a lot, good value for money. After play around with it for a while, I started pasting unlocked maps I downloaded from various places on the internet. As usual, I paste .img files to SD\Map folder. I thought those maps would work. However, to my astonishment, none of those unlocked maps ( City Navigator, Blue Charts g2, Topo, etc ) would work. The screen prompt is : Can't Lock Maps! I then tried to copy those maps to internal memory of the device, under Garmin directory, still no luck. Can someone help me with this situation?
Possible causes:
1. The original firmware was 3.80 and I updated it immediately to 4.60 when I got the device.
2. The unit is bought in US, but I am in Asia. So I can't even register the unit in MyGarmin dashboard.

You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
Thank you very much, Caty. It worked perfectly! I have had 4 of 5 img files functioning properly, except the one generated from BaseCamp by myself. It's Southern China Topo map. Is it possibly caused by no Chinese texts display?
I have looked up on the internet and found this this link(below), which provides the missing Chinese.gtt file on the Montana unit. Is it Okay to just paste this file to the Internal\Garmin\Text directory? So that I will be able to see Chinese text? Thank you again for your time.

It's for a nuvi 205, not sure can work on Montana. Try to run webupdater to see if it downloads the proper file and if it exists

It is impossible! On today Monatana (US/EU model) supports only Arabic, Farsi and Herbew from among non-Latin alphabets...
For information, for Arabic, Farsi and Herbew language is not enough only *.gtt files, there are need be corresponding *.bin files in ExtData folder.
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
You need to use CHN font? (Did you mean you can not use CHN font even you put CHN bin file within extdata folder?)
If yes, then give me a link for CHN .ttf file.( True type font file) And CHN .gtt file , I will try for you.
You can use CHN font/CHN menu/CHN map with CHN font on map. But you don't get CHN keyboard. Sorry for that.![]()

@Caty, All the maps are working properly now. I found out that only one mapset (Topo South China) didn't work because it was ''locked''. After I run the notorious gimgunlock.exe, bang, all is well!
@Gieman, @aekhong, I have gotten proper Chinese.gtt and corresponding *.bin files. Now my Montana 600 is able to switch the UI to CHN and of course, the latest 'genuine' shift-corrected CHN mapset has got proper CHN font display. Cheers, everyone for your input.
