Is the 3790T the best nuvi device as of now? Will garmin release any new nuvi devices this year that I should wait for?
I’m from the Philippines and am planning to buy a Nuvi 3790T from the USA because it is not available in our country. If I buy it there and plan to use it in our country, are the map installation hacks explained in this forum applicable for my purpose?
Please advise. Thank in advance.

Maps are not problem.
But you should think about US firmware that you can modified to use Philipine firmware or not ?

I don't know about PH map in future (about JCV).
For example in Indonesia., Indo JCV is locked and Indo firmware only can use it.
US unit can't display Indo jcv. !!
For Philippine., if PH jcv is locked in future so US unit can only use map not including PH jcv.
If you don't mind about JCV and US firmware features so you can but US unit.
PS ::
- US firmware for 37xx won't display POIs on map., Asian can.

JCV is something like this -->
And this is POIs icons( Symbols indicate points of interest.) on map by Asian firmware.

3790US can modified to use Philippine firmware ??

I think no 3790 Philippine., so there is no answer for "3790US can modified to use Philippine firmware ??"
I saw only 205,205w,250,265WT,1360 series in Philippine.
