Than you for the great info that helps allot. I asked about the adds for navteq since it is a concern and the seller said they have never seen an add. As for which service to choose i am in Northern California both providers show good coverage but is one more live "up to date" or more responsive than the other. I see Garmin's website charges a bit for clear channel subscriptions Any reason.

The ads will appear anyway if your GPS model ends with a "T" (lifetime ad-supported traffic navteq). I have a 765T and I cannot find a way to disable the ads. Same receiver (same subscription), connected to a 855 doesn't show the ads...

We solved the problem. The problem was that my GPS was not upgraded the firmware and Traffic database.

What I did was access the Garmin site and download the WebUpdater.

After updating the program asks if you want to update more than an item, then select any item that is related to Traffic and have installed.

After that I could make it work.

    Thanks.

    What ads?
I have nuvi 765t also, and use it across europe (from scandinavia to southeast europe). i've been using this for several years and i have never crossed any kind of ads on my unit.
and "t" behind model number doesn't apply to lifetime ad-supported traffic subscription. it tells the user that exactly that model comes with traffic receiver unit (tmc).

get your gear right, before you come with the statements that are not true.

if you have problems with ads - change unit or provider.
