@Superduper67. You wrote that "thread is not the proper place for that discution about maps". However, you commented pretty harshly on my post, so I have to reply in order to clarify my point.
There are different reasons for Garmin map users to generate .unl files with expiry period. wp3gi ' s reason (posted here at noeman) is "JetMouse 1.5 has no way to set an expiration date on the keys it generates so that means that JetMouse cannot be used to generate the Premium Ad-Free Subscription Code."
My personal reason is to make someone who gets maps I made in MPC to go to certain website and get newer version periodically. This is done to remind people that newer and BETTER version of map is available and it can be downloaded at regular location. If someone prefers to use old version he/she can simply apply Garmin Unlocker and forget about the need for .unl files. So I can not see anything wrong in my actions (except for Garmin proprietary rights). Most of us here support idea of free maps and software sharing, so to accuse someone so easily of trying to "sell" maps and "return clients" is pretty harsh.

So you want to sell those maps periodically, via limiting the period of functionality? That's what I said in my statement. I didn't make any accusations, I just stated my personal preference. Since a stock Garmin device will continue to work with obsolete maps, I don't agree with the ideea of crippling somebody's device on purpose.
    Nothing personal.
And yes, JetMouse CAN be used to generate Premium Ad-Free Subscription Codes (for TMC).
    TMC is always lifetime.

OK, I guess I have to post at different thread, since discussion goes off-topic regarding this thread. I will post at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Post # 20.

You are talking about expiration date of maps, but the topic is Expiration date of the TMC for USA.
It's not about returning customers, its about that you buy a 1 year subscription for TMC in the states.
Never about maps, which obsolete with maps cause none were ever released with expiration day

    Hi all,

Have an 885T with the Microsoft Direct Service cable and service whose service was stopped 1-1-2012. Bought a used GTM20 cable preparing for the stoppage. It arrived to day. Using v1.5fixed generator, generated BOTH US and Canada codes for Navteq traffic and entered in to 885T - US activated immediately with Lifetime for US and a message showed up stating subscription would be activated once I was located in area (Canada). Next, entered BOTH US and Canada codes for TTN and the Expired message appeared. Used Keygen v1.3TMCexp generator using 1527 in the Custom Map block and entered generated code into 885T and TTN Expired turned into Lifetime... Thank you all very much! Will miss the MSDirect information greatly but at least I now have Traffic... One note, TTN channels show, but others are not named, so I am assuming they are the Navteq channels but do not know that for certain. Turning back to the Map, after a few minutes, traffic does show on the map, but do not know which service is providing it. I am not able to select as far as I can tell, even from with the Test/traffic Info or the other key. Good luck to all and Happy New Year.

Great Thread. I was able to add NAVTEQ lifetime subscription On my C550 and wanted to test it out when i notice that the TMC cable has some sort of a short in it which I noticed when the traffic subscriptions would disappear and reappear when i moved the cable in certain positions. So i need a New TCM cable and went on ebay looking or a GTM 20. I notice that they sell the one for my garmin with subscription "Part Number: 010-00544-13 " and also without "Part Number: 010-00544-01 ". Is this correct They sell TMC with the subcriptions in them? I thought you had to manually input the key code's? Can anyone confirm this and also would the NAVTEO and TTN be included.

Update Okay i Guess they are available. Anyone know which subscription is better to have. Clear channel or Navteo for North America. thank you

    @reload69

There is a distinct difference between the 010-00544-13 and the 010-00544-01 and has nothing to do with Navteq or TTN subscriptions. Subscriptions can be added to either.

The biggest difference is the size of the barrel portion that plugs into the cigarette lighter. The -13 model is a newer one that comes with newer Nuvi's such as the 765 series. The -01 was an older model and was longer and prone to breakage.
The -13 has no LED indicator lights on it, the -01 has three colors, red, yellow, and green.
I had both and would definitely go with the -13 since it's constructed better and less chance of breaking.
The -13 will work on older Garmin units prior to the 700 series.

As far as buying on Ebay you will have to contact the seller and ask EXACTLY what traffic subscriptions come with the unit. More than likely it will be the Navteq Free Lifetime Traffic that will have advertisements displayed.

As far as subscriptions go, you will have to choose what traffic provider offers more coverage in your area.
You can have both (Navteq & TTN) on the receiver, but it will pick up the FM stations with the strongest signal from the area you are in.
Click on the links below to see what is covered in your area.

Than you for the great info that helps allot. I asked about the adds for navteq since it is a concern and the seller said they have never seen an add. As for which service to choose i am in Northern California both providers show good coverage but is one more live "up to date" or more responsive than the other. I see Garmin's website charges a bit for clear channel subscriptions Any reason.
