My opinion is that there are many different people, each with a unique skillset. Some people excel at, for example, programming and tech things. Others are into arts and music. Others into biology. Etc etc...

If you talk about bits and byes in the wrong group, they get scared that you may start eating them Uploaders of information in your group.

Most forums have "listeners" and "contributers" . If the listeners are pressured to contribute, the forum will be become clogged with a more unnecessary drivel than what any sane surfer could wish to encounter. A simple "thank you" post from each person who views a thread clutters up a thread tremendously. I can't imagine how the thread will look if each viewer contributed a few paragraphs of a subject that they are not familiar with...
