Anyways, I'm not completely computer illigerate, but could someone show me some links with what my options are? Most links that I've followed on here are asking for 205, and then drink the to 205w, and 0 help is given. So can someone please spell it out as to what my options are?

    Thanks guy!
First I would use the garmin webupdater and get the latest firmware. It fixes a number of problems and allow you you put 2 maps on an SD/MicroSD card.

The maps have gotten much larger and you won't be able to put an entire North American map inside the 205 for lack of internal memory (it's a 2gig internal memory device). Latest firmware for the 205 is version 7.60

You can find a selection of the latest maps here (various coverage areas). You want to download an UNLOCKED IMG file from the available choices.

You can easily use the latest FULL North American maps on that 205 if you put them on SD/MicroSD.

    1. Get a 4 gig card (cheapest you can find).
    2. Create a Garmin folder on the data card.
    3. Download an UNLOCKED IMG/map of your choice. That will be named "gmapsupp.img" and the only file you need
    4. Copy the gmapsupp.img file to the garmin folder. you have your maps!

    5. insert the card in the 205
    6. boot the 205
    7. go to your map info screen wher you will now see 2 maps by name (old ones and new ones)
    8. deselect/uncheck the old 2009 maps and select/check the new maps

    Your done!
