topo Garmin New Zealand 10m NASA ASTER Contour lines map by Mr Purple

Garmin New Zealand 10m NASA ASTER Contour lines map by Mr Purple

10m Contour lines generated from the NASA ASTER data and streams from the LINZ data. The maps are transparent and should overlay the NZ OPEN GPS maps if uploaded together to your GPSr.

The NASA global digital elevation model is a product of NASA and METI. The original data has a resolution of around 15 meters but has been over sampled to 10m to help guide the eye at close zoom levels. This results in some spurious isolated contour lines particularly in flat areas and also has a tendancy to smear out features smaller than 20m or so. The stream data was obtained from w w w .Koordinates. com from the original LINZ data

Installed lots of *.img files. Any way to display/install these in Mapsource? Or do I copy them all to a Garmin Oregon SD?
How do I overlay or name these files on top of a NZ City Navigator gmapsupp.img.. Any help appreciated.

    With Mapsource software installed
    run setup.exe , first link provided ,
    or put gmap folder in
    (in XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps)
    or
    (in Vista, Windows 7 - C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps)

It's a transparent map showing contour lines. Barring earthquakes leveling mountains or NZ being swamped by rising oceans nothing should change ever.

If you want to join 2 or more maps into a single gmapsupp.img you can use GMapTool: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
