I successfully installed 1.24 (non-modified TYP) to my 3790T but I can't seem to send the 1.24 (modified TYP) to my device. What I did was to use GMapTool by deleting the included TYP file (from the installation of the contributor map 1.24) in the working folder and replaced it with the one from post 9. I then opened GMapTool, added the working directory, clicked replace TYP file in image file, and clicked Change All. When MapSource starts sending it to the device, it returns an error of "there is a problem with this Garmin application, please contact support, etc. etc.). This did not happen with the 1.24 (non-modified TYP).
What could have I done wrong? Please help.
Thanks.

For most people here, I can vouch that the Roadguide.ph contributor's map is better.
Anybody can help me in changing the typ file for the 1.24 map?
Thanks, here are the instruction using TYP file
here's a link were you can download TYP file [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
After downloading, you should have these two files:
a.) 1.24.rar
b.) Change TYP File.rar
Step 3:
Place these two downloads in one folder, name it whatever you like
Step 4:
Extract these two .rar files using WINRAR.
After extracting you will have two folders, each
containing files:
-----------------------------------
a.) Folder name: "1.24"
contents:
a1. "1.24.img"
-----------------------------------
b.) Folder name: "Change TYP File"
contents:
b1. "Change TYP File.txt"
b2. "I0002F6C.TYP"
b3. "Change TYP File ID.png"
b4. "Change TYP File.exe"
Step 5:
Double Click item b4. "Change TYP File.exe"
The program will run showing a small window having a
black back background with Red fonts that goes
something like this:
-----------------------------------------------------
Source IMG file not exist
Copy one IMG file into directory named: MAP Original
Press any key to continue . . .
------------------------------------------------------
Step 6:
CLOSE the program by pressing the X at the
upper right portion of that small window.
Expect to see another folder named "MAP Original"
So the contents of your "Change TYP File" folder
should now be:
b1. "Change TYP File.txt"
b2. "I0002F6C.TYP"
b3. "Change TYP File ID.png"
b4. "Change TYP File.exe"
b5. "MAP Original" folder (this folder is empty)
Step 7:
Go to "1.24" folder, item a.
This contains the "1.24.img" file
(Refer to Step 4 above)
Step 8:
Copy the "1.24.img" file
Step 9:
Paste the "1.24.img" file to the
"Map Original" folder (refer to item b5., of step 6)
Step 10:
Double Click again "Change TYP File.exe"
to run the program.
...this time the same small window
will appear but the screen background becomes dark blue
and the font color would be Light blue that says something like this:
-----------------------------------------------------
This patch file Change TYP file inside image
_______________________________________________
Press any key to continue . . .
------------------------------------------------------
Step 11:
Just do what the screen says: "Press any key to continue"....
see the small window screen change background from Dark blue to Light Gray and the Light blue fonts turn to dark gray that says something like this:
-----------------------------------------------------
gmt v0.5.5.2705 <C> AP
Split map MAP Original\1.24.img .
Write data I0002F6C -> I0002F6C.TYP
Write map 63283724 -> 63283724.img
Write map 63283725 -> 63283725.img
Write map 63283726 -> 63283726.img
Write map 63283727 -> 63283727.img
Write map 63283728 -> 63283728.img
Write map 63283729 -> 63283729.img
------------------------------------------------------
Step 12:
CLOSE the program by pressing the X at the
upper right portion of that small window.
You should see another folder named "MAP new TYP"
So the contents of your "Change TYP File" folder
should now be:
b1. "Change TYP File.txt"
b2. "I0002F6C.TYP"
b3. "Change TYP File ID.png"
b4. "Change TYP File.exe"
b5. "MAP Original" folder (containing the original "124.img" file)
b6. "MAP new TYP" folder containing a "124.img" file
(the file name resembles that of the original, however this file is already the patched "124.img" file)
STEP 13:
Use the "124.img" file and rename it as "gmapsupp.img"

Thanks for the instructions but how do you do it with GMapTool? Catymag posted the instructions in the posts above but it doesn't explain how to do it exactly with GMapTool. I want to do it with the original MapSource 1.24 image files (one for each region) that was posted here.
I was thinking the same thing, there is two half sets of instructions.
I (think) i have installed 1.24 fully, please someone confirm if i am wrong
My method was this....
1st ~ download the Mapsource (locked) version from post 19
2nd ~ remove my old jklink folder from C:
3rd ~ Unrar the 1.24 Install clicking on roadguide.ph.124.part1.exe.
4th ~ Go to C:\jklinc\ Roadguide, copy the unlock mapset.exe into this folder and run (map is now unlocked)
5th ~ open my copy of MapSource which happens to be 6.16.2, choose Roadguide 1.24 Contributors Version from my dropdown of available maps
6th ~ Highlight Luzon and POI's and send .img to my USB stick.
Because people were talking about narrow roads with this other unlocked 1.24.img version i went through the above steps to change the TYP file in post #44 !!
7th ~ download change_TYP_file.rar
8th ~ Use the .img file i created from my MapSource from the locked version on my USB stick and followed steps 4 thru to 13 from post #44
I copied the final gmapsupp.img from the "MAP new TYP" folder into my Garmin XT folder on my device and ran Garmin... Browsed the map to Taft Ave where i was looking before i updated to 1.24 and i noticed more POI's and everything looked ok. However browsing from birds eye looks different to actual 3D Route View, as im not currently in this country i dont think i can view 3D to see if the roads are narrow like people were saying?.
Later when i was playing round with GmapTool i loaded a copy of the same 1.24.img file from my Garmin XT and split the file to create subfiles,
the TYP file says I0002F6C.TYP, len. 17734 ...... guess this is ok
Looking forward to dodging traffic on Taft Ave next week!, just hope what i got is right but looks all good done this many times... thanks in advance

i loaded the untouched file in my nuvi.. it says map is locked.
tried following the change typ as shown in previous post. but still locked. what did i do wrong?
The "untouched" file is still locked, an untouched version was posted cause we need the ability to search streets. Untouched = hasnt been unlocked with 'Garmin Unlocker' but needs to be unlocked with unlock_mapset.exe
If the unlocked gmapsupp.img from post #1 is indeed locked? which i doubt it is....you will need a garmin unlocker and input your ID and MAP ID bla bla
For user in Philippines
Advice - stored RG 1.24 as gmapprom.img which will remain as the full operational map for your country.
Southeast Asia Cn 6.5 as gmapsupp.img where it can be turned off when not required.
