The first three maps (Brecon Beacons, Lake District and Peak District) need to go in the root of the GARMIN folder on either the SD memory card or the units internal memory, doesn't matter which.
The Dartmoor Birdseye Select needs to go in the GARMIN\Birdseye folder, again it can be either on the SD card memory or the units internal memory.
Brecon Beacons and Peak District need to be unlocked before use, the Lake District is already unlocked.
To view the Dartmoor map you need to use hacked firmware.
Hope this helps clarify things a bit :-)

Thanks for the clarification. That matches with what I was expecting and what I have been doing with previous maps that I have used (all placed in the \Garmin folder on the SD card). Unfortunatly it doesnt appear to be working with these maps.

I have been trying a few more things (note that I keep the basemap on the internal memory and all other maps on the SD card):-

    1) Formatted the SD card, created the \Garmin directory and placed the Lake District IMG file in the \Garmin directory. When I started the GPS no maps were displayed (basemap had previously been disabled). When I enabled the basemap, it was displayed but the Lake District map was not displayed.

    2) Copied the Discovered 1:50K whole UK IMG map to the \Garmin folder on the SD card (I have successfully used this map previously). Same result as 1. Only the basemap is shown.

    3) Copied the OSM IMG map to the \Garmin folder on the SD card (again, I had previously used this map). Same result as 1 and 2.

    4) Deleted the Lake District IMG map from the \Garmin folder on the SD card. This time the Discoverer 1:50K map and OSM maps were visible both on the map screen and in the setup enable/disable screen.

When I had tried to use the Lake District map initially, it was copied to my SD card AFTER I had placed other maps on it. The other maps were still shown on the GPS but the Lake District map wasnt. This time, the Lake District map was placed on the SD card BEFOR any of the other maps which were not shown on the GPS. It appears that my GPSmap 62s doesnt like something about these (Lake District etc) maps which then prevents it from loading any other maps on the device. Very odd. Does anyone else have a GPSmap 62 that they have tried these maps with?
