I gave you all the instructions needed: gmapsupp.img in sd in Garmin folder
FIU is here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
link works
catymag, Hi. Update. Well, I copied your 11.5, merged it all in one file and then I think I got the unlocker to work, but when I put it in the 740S, it read the file, the system info says it's there, but then it says it can NOT unlock the map. So I can only assume the unlocker didn't work maybe? Any thoughts? I've only been at this for 5 hours! LOL
It is the Garmin GPSMAP 740s. The new 7" touch screen GPS/Sounder unit. Yes I did put the unlocker in the garmin file where the gmapsupp file is located. The unlocker brought up a black box and the correct file. I walked off to let it do it's thing and when I came back it had closed and back to the garmin directory. So I figured it unlocked it. True it went into the 740s, but it wasn't unlocked. Hummmmm

Download GMapTool [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
drag the gmapsupp.img in its window then push details and look if you can see if it's locked or not-
If unlocked probably you put it in the wrong place or it has to be renamed
eg of a locked map log
Your unit cant have maps in internal memory, just in sd- In sd maps for plotters are named gmapsupp.img and are in a Garmin directory, one per sd.
Enable extensions in Windows to see if it's not named gmapsupp.img.img
If I might suggest: Put your SD card in a reader attached to your PC and start HomePort.
If it recognizes your file and shows the expected detail, then perhaps your new hardware,
700s or something, may be able to defeat the current unlocker. This file (11.5), unlocked,
shows all detail in HomePort V2.0.4 including aerial photos on my computer.
catymag,
Actually it was img.img, but I fixed that before I put it on the SD card, so that shouldn't be the reason it says it is locked. I'm at a lose unless I missed a step somewhere. Divepcola
Catymag, I downloaded the Homeport and it shows the Map file, but doesn't show anything and the status shows "Not Lockable". So does that mean it is still locked or a bad file? Again, I know I'm being a pain, but need your help. Thanks.

Wel damn, it still want show on the Garmin GPSMAP 740s. I'm going to download everything again and start over cause it's just not showing. Thanks
Well, I re-downloaded all the map files, the unlocker and the Homeport and started all over again. After several attemps, it finally shows on the Homeport. So in the morning I'll see if it works in the Garmin 740s. THANKS for all your help..... Divepcola
FINALLY! Ok, for everyone who also had the problem with the Bluechart g2 Vision...... what we were NOT told is that when you unlock the file(s), it apparently automaticly creates a file name: BCAMR105. It is THAT file that has all the Marinas, Maps and graphics in it. So THAT file also needs to be copied into the Garmin file on your SD card. When I did that, all the Maps, Fish Eye, Marine Eye, Aeral Photos etc. were available on my Garmin. So stop racking your brain to figure out why the Extra stuff isn't showing. Once you copy this file, everything will be there! Damn, if I'd only known earlier! So, follow all the directions given on this site, but also copy the BCAMR105 file to your SD card too, and everything will work fine.................. Divepcola
