Hi everyone,
First time poster here. I haven't had anything to post due to the wealth of information here but I just ran into something that is confusing me.
In the past with unlocked IMG's on my Nuvi 350I would see both the onboard map and the SD maps on the map selection page. With 2011.30 I used he JM utility on the locked IMG and transferred everything to the SD card. When I look at the map selection page I only see the SD card with 2011.30 but I do not see the onboard map. To verify that my onboard maps are still intact I powered down and pulled the SD card then powered back up. The onboard map is still intact.
Not a big deal since I never switch to the older maps on the fly but I'm curious why things have changed.
Thanks for the reply catymag.
I believe I have the maps named correctly.
The factory maps on the 350 internal flash is still gmapprom.img along with the gmapprom.unl file
On the SD card I have the following in the Garmin folder:
gmapsupp.img
gmapsupp.unl
Are these files "marked' in respect to being traceable back to me?
Reason is, I for some reason or another have what I believe is an intact IMG dir consisting of 2,615,676,928 bytes(!) from updating my 855 to 2011.30 US and chose to also save them to my computer in the updater but afterwards it came up stating it couldn't save them to my computer. Well, have read the topics here I went HD diving and found the IMG dir, all of it.
Last thing I need is for my first post to get me in hot water. Maybe catymag can respond here to whether or not they're tied to my ID before I proceed further.
I would, even though it's frowned upon, like to add a few keystrokes here and take the time to say Thank You all for what I have learned from the many Garmin posters. This is my first GPS, and while I'm not a geek at it I do like to understand more than the average Jack or Jill who just switches it on and goes.
i have the garmin nuvi 255. how exactly do i do this and do i need to download all the files in the first post, i think theres 8 of them or so. please help. im really confused. thanks
My pleasure bro
Everything is correct, may I know which maps? coz if it's the same map, covering the same area, your gps couldnt see them both contemporarly
read my pm

it's your choice , if you want a customizable map, download the Mapsource version

The factory onboard maps are CNNT 2008 but I'm not sure which version. The maps (2011.30) on the SD card were obtained from post #37.
With previous updates I always downloaded the unlocked IMG and had no problems with seeing both onboard flash maps and SD maps. This is the first time that I've used a locked image with JM generated unl file.
I've read some more on the net about combining all keys in one UNL file. Is it possible that the UNL file on the SD card is causing problems with the UNL that's onboard?
Thanks again

If not too much trouble, I would like to have them for 2011.30 maps even if they are smaller. I think that in new maps the ASR files are smaller because there is one per voice instead of all packed into a single file. TIA.
sorry turboccc the ones posted are the latest ASR files the user had updating an 855 to 2011.30 US
previous 2011.20 are these
I have no idea about what you are asking, can you explain better? Thanks
