After I change the file name on the unlocked Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010.30 to gmapsupp.img ( Secondary Map) Just copy to the SD card.
Do I have to delete the 2009 map for the NUVI(space is to small in the NUVI for an exchange) to default to start the 2010 map?

I also have a NUVI 1490T, in the tools it lists it 's 3D! also the advertisement speaks of Lane Guidance, is this correct or the unit is new and not listed as so? Set me straight I just bought it and got the Free update to the Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010.30 from the 2009.
Thank You in advance for the help and the GREAT site and people!

First backup you old map, then delete it from you nuvi, you can try to delete in the new one, voices files you dont need, to have it smaller, but I dont think you'll have room enough, better to put it in an sd and eventually ,put in your device pois ,vehicles ,speedcams or may be a guide----

in the garmin folder of the gps rename it to gmapprom.img
in the garmin folder of your sd card rename it to gmapsupp.img
remove or deselect any other maps displaying the same area---

the limit is 2024 map segments and 4 gb (fat32)----

to see all your new nuvi files change folder options to view all hidden files on your pc
