    Info comes from the Garmin:

    MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) Mode:

Operation: In MTP Mode, your device is presented as a media player connected to your computer. Instead of accessing all files on the device, MTP provides access to media files such as music, photos and videos. This protocol controls access to media files and maintains the structure and integrity of files and folders.

File management: Files are managed via a specific media manager or software that supports MTP, such as Windows Media Player. You usually do not have access to the entire file system of the device, only to the media files.

Compatibility: MTP Mode is optimized for media transfer and is often used by modern devices that offer more advanced features and better media integration. This can sometimes lead to compatibility issues with older operating systems or software that does not support MTP.

Application: Suitable for modern devices that manage and synchronize media files, such as recent Garmin devices, smartphones and digital media players.

Depending on the type of Garmin device you have and what you want to do, the choice between Mass Storage Mode and MTP Mode can impact how you manage and transfer files.

    Mass Storage Mode:

Operation: In Mass Storage Mode, your device is presented as an external hard drive or USB stick. The computer can access the storage space on your device as a normal file system, giving you direct access to the files and folders on the device.

File management: You can easily copy, move or delete files by treating the device as an external drive. This is often done via Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

Compatibility: Mass Storage Mode is widely supported and works with most computers and operating systems without additional software. This is often the preferred mode for transferring large files or managing files on the device.

Application: Suitable for devices that primarily require data transfer and file management, such as older Garmin navigation systems and some other devices.

    @Keith
Once you set it to Mass Storage Mode via the hidden menu behind the device's [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], you'll be able to see the .System folder which contains many important folders and files.

PS: Please ensure you use "Spoiler" tags for any large images you post to save clutter. In the "Go Advanced" option, you'll be able to do that by highlighting the link/attachment and using the "S" button ("Wrap [spoiler] tags around selected text"), e.g.:

Thank you Boki, I will try that next time I upload image.

    Kind Regards,
    Keith

In your animation How to Snap2Html, when you browse for the device it shows "Garmin DriveSmart (D

As can be seen in my image, my browse does not have drive letter. I copied the whole of the Garmin file structure to my hard drive, then tried the How to Snap2Html again using that content, this time my "Ok" button was enabled, but, when I clicked on Create Snapshot, I had I assume a Windows error.

Just tested Boki link all work OK see screenshot

I unrar the file DS 55 Europe.rar to a root folder on my "D" drive and then launched the DS 55 Europe.html

Then you can compare it to what you have and see if anything is missing

The newer Garmin GPS's do not have a drive letter that being Drivesmart 55,66

It show it as a Portable Device:

I do not know how Keith was able to have a drive letter other that downloading all of the DriveSmart folders.

Thank you for your reply. I have compared your folder/file list with mine and I have all the same structure "except" I do not have the System Volume Information folder. Also, I have no way to know if the files in all the other folders is correct.

    Kind Regards,
    Keith
