It probably is only capable of reading maps with specific names. Look in your GarminDevice.xml for "img" references, it will show you the appropriate naming and path for each map and type (basemap, detail etc). e.g., sample entries from an earlier automotive device:

The above is an example only. Yours will be different of course but will show you appropriate usable naming for all map files.
Additionally, looking at the firmware and searching for string "67 6D 61 70" (gmap in plain text) shows references to gmapsup1 and gmapsup2 which do work as you've found. There is nothing for gmapsup3 which is why your EU course map doesn't show with that naming. However, gmapprom and gmapsupp are shown along with gmaptz also. No mention of gmapbmap so it likely doesn't need nor support a basemap..... but it might support up to 4 detail (course) maps. Try renaming your EU to either gmapprom.img or gmapsupp.img and re-test with the other 2 courses named gmapsup1 and gmapsup2. This is the fw in a hex reader:

PS: No i haven't received a PM from you. Note that even if i did receive one asking for advice i'd have told you to post publicly here anyway. Most members don't give private help anyway, it only limits assistance whereas the open forum can help many ppl potentially. I'm sure you understand that.
