    Default Mappy ulti E508ND GPS--->iGO ???

    Hello to all,
    sorry for my English.
    I have a Mappy ulti E508ND GPS on which I can't manage to do an update.
    While browsing this forum: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I thought I understood that it would be possible to modify this GPS. I tried to follow the instructions but I did not succeed.
    I have downloaded the maps and licenses.
    Could you please help me.
    Sorry if I am not in the right section.
    Thanks in advance.
    (I use a translation engine.)

    ...you cannot use maps and licenses with the original software...

    I forgot to mention that I also have the software you mention in the link above.
    Only, by following the indications brought by the link, the navigation does not launch.
    The original root structure is very different from the downloaded software

    Yes, I saw you downloaded the software, but obviously you didn't follow the procedure carefully .

    In the picture you posted, it is obvious that you connected the device or the card to a computer with the Win10 system (System Volume information is created by OS, there are some other possible problems, but I guess you won't find an XP computer easily). I hope you didn't change the file system.

    The root structure is not the iGO folder structure.
    The picture shows the classic structure of the original internal memory/SD content, most often with Navitel software.

    It is clearly indicated in the instructions:

    This means that you should have named the downloaded mobile navigator folder to the name of the original folder (eg Mappy), also main exe file.
    Of course, first you rename the original folder (to backup or whatever) and move it to PC.

    If you still don't understand, post the content inside the original folder.

    Hello,
    I now have a bigger problem....
    My GPS does not start at all.
    I had to do too many manipulations with the USB port.
    I will try to disassemble it....
    For information, I had indeed connected the device to Windows to try a classic update.
    But I'm usually on Linux Debian.
    Thanks again

    All Mappy GPS models with the ND consonants, come with the NDrive factory software.

    This is what I have on an old external hard drive, it was tested in 2014 on the Mappy Ulti508ND model.
    If you don't want these three navigation programs, just edit the file MobileNavigator/MobileNavigator.NFrun.
    You must add maps, languages etc...check the igo section here on the forum.

    Other GPS Mappy Ulti E508ND data
    Internal memory: DataFlash
    External memory(SD): SDMMC
    Executable: MobileNavigator/MobileNavigator.exe
    port=7
    baud=38400

    Just to finish, it's a low RAM model, if I'm not mistaken it has 64MB RAM, so if you want to try another iGO version, don't try above this one:

    On few Mappy devices that came to me, I was just inserting the KIA edition and all behaved very well
    True, no ND version came into my hands. Are you sure the port tool is necessary?

    It is normal message. After you click Yes, the software should start with new settings configuration.
    If you have created the proper package.

    No, it is no longer necessary.
    The GPS Mappy Ulti E508ND, never passed through my hands, it was a help in a forum for a Luso-French user in 2014, the Port Tool was needed to know the "baud" of the GPS Mappy to use the TomTom program, at that time there was no information on how to install other programs on Mappy Ulti E508ND.
    I have not reviewed the RAR package, so there is probably room for improvement, I just removed the old maps and other content.

    If you want to see, this is the original backup:
    Spoiler: Backup Mappy Ulti E508ND
    https://1fichier.com/?wxeg4cuw1xrwb6gxb8gn

    In the first capture appears the folder "System Volume Information", I do not know what it is ... this folder was not shared by the luso-french user, or possibly it is only visible with linux or Windows XP ...
    There is another folder called "PublicTransport", I remember that they are public transport POI made (or ordered) for mappy, it was an extra in Mappy GPSs.

    Apologies:
    Luso-French= Portuguese emigrant in France who returned to Portugal.

    The rest of the iGO content is missing (licenses, data.zip, sys.txt, etc...) there are only 2 folders and the iGO executable.

    It is folder created by Windows OS in the root of every drive (partition). Marked as hidden, system and protected, contains volume information and indexing (and some other) data. You can delete it on an external storage devices, but the OS recreates it after the next connection.
