Thread: Can we convert garmin nuvi us firmware to APAC firmware

I would like to know that , is it possible to change garmin nuvi firmware from US/EU to APAC firmware .
If it possible , which tool I do need.

If the device and the intended donor firmware have matching PCB P/Ns then it may be possible. More information about PCB P/Ns in this thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

For more specific information please advise which model nuvi you have and it's HWID also post a link to the APAC firmware you wish to flash to it. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

This is the link of firm ware , my Drive assist 50 HWID is 2270 (006-B2270-00

The two firmwares have the same region layout with similar-sized firmware components and importantly they share same PCB P/Ns meaning a cross-flash is possible, albeit not guaranteed. The safest way would be to try a hybrid firmware made up of the 2270's boot.bin and the 2596's fw_all.bin & resources_7F05.bin and retaining the US HWID 2270. That way if the flash fails it is more likely to revert back to US, however it it succeeds then a full flash to APEC is almost certainly safe. Do you know how to make the hybrid fw using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or do you need help with that?

Sorry to butt in, I would be interested in how to make hybrid FW, also wouldn't it be better to use the FW for HWID 2596 then both are DriveAssist 50's ?

Open the US fw in RGN_Tool and in the GUI under "Firmware Sections", press "Save" on the first field (boot.bin) to save it somewhere convenient. Open the APEC fw and press "Load" on the first field then select the saved US boot.bin to load it. In "Overrides" panel check "HWID" and write 2270 then check "SW Version" and write 270. Press RGN button at top left to save the file. Only use safe naming of 227001000270.rgn. To flash, open the RGN in Updater.exe and connect the device in preboot. Updater will ask you to confirm flashing a lower version software than is already loaded. This method requires placing the DS50 into preboot to flash using Updater and some ppl have great trouble attaining preboot in new devices and also have trouble starting the flash quickly enough if they can attain preboot. If that's so, there is another method as you'd be aware using individual BIN files and SD card method, and again using US boot.bin as Ldr.bin to flash the APEC fw_all.bin and resources_7F05.bin, again with overrides set as before when saving the BIN files in RGN_Tool.

Not sure exactly what you're asking there. He only has one device afaik, a US/EU DS50 HWID 2270 to which he wants to flash APEC fw for some reason.

I guess you linked the above DS51 fw for a reason but again i'm unsure about why.

You may just need to add the relevant ASR/SRX/SRD files to use TH voice command with the local mapping data.
