    You should of gone to the Garmin website before you tried anything.

    Spoiler: Garmin Edge Explore 820

    Resetting the Device

    If the device stops responding, you may need to reset it. This does not erase any of your data or settings.
    Hold for 10 seconds.

    The device resets and turns on.

    Clearing User Data

    You can restore all of the device settings to the factory default values.
    NOTE: This deletes all user-entered information, but it does not delete your history.
    Select Menu symbol > Settings > System > Device Reset > Factory Reset > Checkmark symbol.

    You do this long before you think about any formatting of a Garmin unit.

    Like I said once a week someone formats their Garmin Unit for what ever reason that makes no sense at all..........

    Someone will spend a lot of time trying to get you up and running again........

    But you should of backed up everything like Magnetron said before you even started to think about doing any formatting anything.....

    Use's have to stop formatting Garmin Units thinking is will fix everything, it only screws things up.

    Go to the Garmin Help site a read what to do if you have problems.

    BUT DO NOT FORMAT IT.........................

    @afornalli,

    Take your time and read......

    Non-prompted Non-Vol Clear - Clears NV and deletes all FIT files including Activities, Courses, Workouts.

    1. Turn device off
    2. Hold Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
    3. Press and release the power button
    4. Continue to hold only Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
    5. Release Lap/Reset and Start/Stop when the Garmin Logo is cleared
    6. The unit will restart and clear non-vol
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Prompted non-Vol Clear - Clears NV and deletes all default FIT files and any files in the NewFiles folder. This will not delete Activities, Courses, or Workouts.

    Turn device off
    Power device on
    While booting up, press and hold upper-left corner of the touch window ONCE the copyright information appears
    Continue pressing the left hand corner of the screen until you receive the prompt

    If the Garmin forum was not helpful how is anyone else going to help.
    You should of never used Windows to format the unit.

    Then you talked about it running slow.
    As you never said what was slow about it.

    IF doing a Factory Reset and starting over did not help.
    Try contacting Garmin to see if you can get it back in working order.

    Maybe someone else wants to deal with your problems as I have run out of things you can try.

    @afornalli
    Did you format the device too or just the card? If you've reformatted the Edge it may simply not be formatted correctly and if it can still connect to a PC in Mass Storage Mode you can try doing it again using only RMPrepUSB as detailed in this thread's initial post: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    If it doesn't connect to PC, then it may be bricked and you'll need to load Cure firmware to re-enable MSM: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    If i've misunderstood your problem then please post with more information. Also please confirm your device has HWID 2531.
