    In DEM folder you need only one .dem file.
    In active iGO navigation change view from 2D to 3D and you'll see whats difference.

    One .dem file is enough.
    To check if it is working ? Zoom into an area with mountains to see the mountains.
    Simulate a route ( 3D view ) in that area.

    You need to read more carefully to previous replied. You want both. The base DEM is for global view when zooming out. Base DEM will not have the resolution/granularity to show for regions when zoomed in. So if you're in Europe, you need the European DEM as well. As for coverage, here is the bounding box coverage for Full_Europe_CGIAR_Premium_2006.06_170825

    Friends I installed all as described, but however I haven't same view like the pics attached in first file. The effects are much more smaller - nearly the same without these files...

    @Cserrobi: unfortunately we've law problems - especially in Germany, with torrent files. Do you have any possibiliy to uploadthe european dem-files somewhere else?

    About DEM - for EU, it is abslutely enough to use those ~ 88MB.
