Ok I'm lost, what files need to be used when updating the DNX5240bt?
the link mentioned here has a lot of downloads, and I don't know wich one to download for my navigation in my car. there isn't a lot of explanation on each imho
And my native language isn't englisch wich isn't helping either.
So say I want to update the cards for gps/navigation in Belgium (or preferably Europe if possible) and if possible POI like speedcams for Belgium and if possible Europe (countries that allow it of course)
What I can find so far:
1. download some file (which??)
2. extract
3. unlock (??)
4. rename to gmapsupp.img
5. burn on dvd in /garmin folder
5(optional). put other things in /POI folder
6. put DVD in dnx
7. profit?
Hi there,
I read a lot in that thread and did everything is written. My device is a DNX5240. I downloaded the last driver for my device (3.2) and for the Garmin-software on it (2.8). I even installed the Garmin USB-driver on my PC. But when I connected the DNX5240 to the PC there was only the sound for connecting but nothing like the mass storage of the device. Could it be that my PC get in trouble with the driver or could it be that updating the device block the connection?
Thanks for helping
Hi
A friend of mine has a DNX5240BT with 2 GB internal memory and maps from 2009.
Any chance to get the latest full Europe maps on this device? If i burn the maps to dvd which is around 3.8GB, would it install it to the memory and give an error because of less space?
Anyone tested this device with a SD Card like from Page 1 and loaded maps successfully from SD?
Hello!
Is there a recent map update for the DNX5240? I know it's an old model, but I still use mine. :-)
Best regards.
Procedure is described in post #4

The described behavior where the device is seen in Device Manager but not in Windows Explorer means it's not connected in Mass Storage Mode of course. Rather it's connected in Garmin Mode, also referred to as preboot mode or boot block for various devices. If it stays permanently connected in that mode until manually removed then it may well be an older-style Garmin Mode device which only has flashable 'regions' rather than a visible file system but i'm mot familiar with that specific unit.
