Cant remember the exact wording but its something like"there was an error installing the update" Looking at the Sd card it says its nearly full 88% 853mb free and I think the update is 4gb

This means it is not a 16 GB microSD but more likely an 8 GB.

Just for my understanding... did you download, install and run the application MapUpdater?
Can you confirm that there is actually a Lifetime Map update subscription linked to your nüvi 3598, usually indicated by the letters 'LM' behind the model number, eg nüvi 3598LM?

Yes I downloaded the MapUpdater. As far as I am aware it came with free life time update. On mygarmin account page it has LMTD after the serial number. Originally Posted by smokefree
