Using USB stick (a.k.a. stunt-double) to download map updates

HWID is 1947. I downloaded GCD from your second link and its content is same as what GE and MU downloaded during software update step as GUPDATE.GCD.
So, you are saying I can't do anything other than connecting actual nuvi first, and let it perform software update and create new XML file?

EDIT: Figured it out. I edited 2 places in XML file that contain old SW version 5.40, and replaced it with latest 7.50. GE is now able to proceed to update map step. Thanks for the hint.

this is new for me lol, with GE old versions couldn't do it, It didn't accept edited garmindevice.xml
