Howdy folks
My distance counter is way off in the city. Bout 150 feet or so. I tried hard resetting but that didn't work. Also gave device a stern talking to. The voice prompt tells me the right place to turn so it's not that big of a deal.
It takes my map about five minutes to show up on the screen. It says "ready to navigate" and it's blank. Also not a big deal, wait five minutes and it eventually shows up.
If anyone knows some fixes that would be cool.
Other than my gps is awesome and so is this site. I have crammed my gps full of neat things, bilingual dictionaries, cyclops and garmin worldwide safety camera database pois, truckdown( never going to use it but it's fun to have), and 106 hours of music on an sd card. Thanks to caty and Neil I can now unlock and install stuff. Latest firmware ( although it broke the text to speech in the dictionary but hopefully they will fix that.)
Traffic worked for the firs t time today, and i didn't see any ads. ( Never have actually.) And I figured out last position today which rules.
Also how often does Garmin update the normal poi file, and where do I find it?
Can anyone else think of anything cool to do to this 765T of mine?
You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
I have no idea what a basemap is and I read that whole thread. Can I check on the device itself?
My old gmapbmap file has no information about when it was created and the new one is from 2011... so I'm not sure what to do about that.
That's a lot of pois. I don't need custom ones, just the newest normal ones. The file I have that cmae with my device is called D3838100A and it shows a modification date of Nov 16th which was the day I updated to 2015.30. Did it get changed when basecamp installed my map?
Truckdown pois are for dezl and RV 760LMT are not provided for other device probably
some info here

Usually our uploaders add the new file in CNNAM thread when map is updated. You got it from there.
gmapbmap is the basemap, you can update it using the link I gave you in previous post.
Install Garmin usb drivers
connect nuvi to pc and look at files if you have gmapbmap.img fileCode:Please Login or Register to see the links
Make a hard reset when nuvi acts weird.

Well I didn't know it was device specific but it shows me truck service and towing stuff so unintended consequence maybe?
The POI's are built into the maps. Are updated with each map release as garmin sees fit.
As for the slow performance...
1. try the GPS without the SD plugged in. It probably takes a long time to digest 106 hours of music at boot time.
2. on your map info screen try de-selectin the 3D buildings display on your map info screen see it makes a difference. They really slow down the map update speed and in my opinion are pretty but useless.
3. distance counter off by 150' could be mpoor satelight reception. There are good days and bad days. There is also a lot signal reflection and interference from city buildings. 150' isn't bad.
4. don't start dribing intill the GPS has aquiared satelites. Trying to get a fix when the vehile is in motion can take a VERY long time.
@RDesikan
I have two 765s. One shows the map immediately on booting, the other takes some minutes like yours does but otherwise works fine. Loading maps occurs as the unit boots and it will then default to your last known position on the map screen before a sat lock is made. Placing the unit in simulation mode works to force my tardy unit to immediately display the detail map properly and then by immediately turning the simulator back off the map's still shown regardless of a sat lock.

What all have you done modding wise to your 765's?
Converted to Asian and back couple of times. My NA purchased 765 is running TWN firmware at present. My Au unit is stock. Not much you can do with these units, they have a discrete PCN P/N and they're the 'senior models' from their time anyway.
